CardValet Tutorial Guide

CardValet gives you the ability to control your bank debit cards from the convenience of your Apple or Android smartphone device, thereby reducing the risk of fraudulent activity. If your financial institution offers CardValet, you can use it to complete the following actions with just a few taps:
• Block a debit card
• Report lost or stolen cards
• Set card limits, such as transaction amount, location, and merchant
You can also enable card control alerts in online banking, which the system sends to you as a push notification whenever it declines a debit card transaction due to your established card limits.


Block a Debit Card
You can immediately disable a debit card if someone steals the card, you have misplaced the card, or you do not plan to use it at the current time. As soon as you place the block, the system declines all new purchase or ATM transaction attempts at the point-of-sale in real-time.
Note: When you block a card, the system does not block teller transactions, existing pending transactions, and recurring transactions for the card’s related account.
          To block a debit card
          1. Sign in to the app.
          2. Tap Manage My Cards.
          3. Swipe through the card carousel to access the card you want to block.
          4. Toggle the Block Card switch to the On position.
          The “Temporarily Blocked” image overlay appears over the card image in the card carousel.
          To unblock the card at any time, toggle the Block Card switch back to the Off position.


Report Lost or Stolen Cards
Use this procedure to initiate a call directly to your financial institution from the Mobiliti app to report a card as lost or stolen.
          To report lost or stolen cards
          1. Sign in to the app.
          2. Tap Manage My Cards.
          3. Swipe through the card carousel to access the card you want to report.
          4. Tap Report Lost or Stolen Cards. The app initiates a call to your financial institution for you to report the card as lost or stolen.

    
Set Card Limits

You can set transaction amount, location, and merchant limits for each of your bank debit cards by using the CardValet functionality in the Mobiliti app.

 

Transaction Amount Limit
The Transaction Amount Limit is the maximum transaction amount that can occur on a card. Once set, the system declines any attempted transaction that exceeds the specified amount. Transaction amount limits apply to online eCommerce transactions and in-store transactions. You can also specify whether the Transaction Amount Limit applies to ATM withdrawals. If you turn that option on, the system declines any attempted cash withdrawal from an ATM that exceeds the set limit. You can adjust the ATM setting and the specified amount at any time by using the Mobiliti app.

To set a transaction amount limit
1. Sign in to the app.
2. Tap Manage My Cards.
3. Swipe through the card carousel to find the card you want to set limits.
4. Tap Set Card Limits.
5. Tap Transaction Amount Limit.
6. Tap the Amount row.
7. Type the maximum transaction amount limit you want to place on the card.
8. If you want the limit to apply to ATM withdrawals, toggle the Block card transactions and ATM withdrawals over an amount you set switch to the On position.
9. Tap Save.

 

Location Limit
The Location Limit option allows you specify a location radius outside of which the system does not allow transactions, and also block international transactions.
Note: Location limits apply to in-store transactions only.
The system does not decline eCommerce transactions due to location limits, even when you have established limits.
You can disable or change location limits at any time to suit your needs.

To set location limits
1. Sign in to the app.
2. On the Accounts screen, tap Manage My Cards.
3. Swipe through the card carousel to find the card you want to set limits.
4. Tap Set Card Limits.
5. Tap Location Limit.
6. Tap Block International Transactions if you want to block transactions initiated outside your home country.
7. To set a radius location limit, tap Block Transactions outside a selected area and then tap Set area.
8. Type an address in the field at the top of the map screen, choose the radius size around that address in which transactions are allowed, and then tap Save Area.
9. Tap Save.

 

Merchant Limit
The Merchant Limit option allows you to choose the types of merchant locations where you can use your card.
Note: Location limits apply to online eCommerce transactions and in-store transactions.

To set merchant limits
1. Sign in to the app.
2. On the Accounts screen, tap Manage My Cards.
3. Swipe through the card carousel to find the card you want to set limits.
4. Tap Set Card Limits.
5. Tap Merchant Limit.
6. Toggle the Block card transactions at certain types of merchants switch to the On position.
7. Tap the merchant category that you want to block for the card.
8. Review the merchant category details and then toggle the Block switch to the On position.
9. Tap your device's back button to return to the Merchant Limit screen.
10. Repeat step 7 through 9 for each merchant category you want to block.
11. Tap Save.


Turn on Card Control Alerts
You can choose to receive push notifications for debit card transactions that the system declines due to set card limits.

      To turn on card control alerts
      1. Sign in to online banking.
      2. From the Overview page, click the Options link. The Options page appears.
      3. In the Mobile Banking Profile section, click Manage Device(s). The Main Menu page appears.
      4. Click the My Phones tab and then choose the Change my Mobile Banking services option from the drop-down list for the appropriate phone.
      5. Click Go.
      6. Select the Card Control Alerts check box.
      7. Click Next.
